Offseason Roster/Depth Chart Updates
- Updated: April 8, 2016
With the concluding practice of BYU Football’s Spring camp last Friday, the long offseason is unfortunately upon us. There are still 119 days until the beginning of Fall camp and 148 days until the season opener in Arizona, but it’s never too early to take a peek at the projected Depth Chart for this fall.
The coaches are wrapping up spring personnel exit interviews and the fall roster is starting to take shape. With 26 offseason additions, we now show 149 players on the roster including a projected 93 scholarship players. That means that Coach Sitake, Coach E, and Coach Detmer need to cut 44 players to trim the roster to the NCAA maximum 105 for fall camp (including 8 scholarship players). 18 walk-ons will be allowed to rejoin the team when classes begin on August 29.
So, the offseason won’t be entirely uneventful. We’ll likely hear word of a few more scholarship players asked to accept a walk-on role or move on, as was the case with Keegan Hicks. More recently, OL Demetrius Davis announced his intention to transfer.
Until we resume the Countdown to Kickoff in 49 days, here are a few links to keep you busy:
