BYU Depth Chart & Injury Report — Week 6: Utah State
- Updated: October 4, 2013
Review the Depth Chart and Injury Report in preparation for Friday’s game against the Aggies.
Defensive Notes
The two-deep will remain relatively unchanged from last week. The only change occurs at Buck LB where, due to a hamstring injury to Tyler Beck, Manoa Pikula moved over to provide additional depth behind Austen Jorgensen. It seems that Unga, Jorgensen and Pikula will make up a three-man rotation at the inside positions. Toloa’i Ho Ching, Teu Kautai and/or Tanner Cox may see time, but likely only in a garbage time situation — improbable against this Utah State team.
The coaches continue to search for the best corner combination. It appears that Rob Daniel has a solid hold on one spot, but Mike Hague, Skye PoVey and Dallin Leavitt continue to battle for reps on the other side.
Along the defensive line, Eathyn Manumaleuna will likely play a true nose tackle position from this point forward. He’s too big of an asset not to have on the inside of the line. Any reps for Marques Johnson and the recently emerged Meti Taliauli will need to come at an end position, most likely when BYU lines up with a four- or five-man front.
Offensive Notes
Quarterbacks, wide receivers, and tight ends should all be good to go for Friday, but injuries have hit the running backs and offensive line hard.
Jamaal Williams should be good to go once again, but Adam Hine will not take the field this week. Look for Alisa, Williams and Lasike to receive the majority of RB reps, with Algie Brown getting a few touches after emerging as an additional option.
Along the O-Line, look for Ryker Mathews to return to action this week. However, Brock Stringham and DeOndre Wesley will likely remain out, leaving Michael Yeck and Brad Wilcox to handle the load at the tackle positions for another week.
