Total Blue Sports recruiting guru Brandon Gurney wrote an excellent piece today on BYU’s search for Non-LDS players who like and want the unique environment BYU has to offer.
Paul Tidwell’s comment that they want kids who can thrive at BYU, not students who have to survive, was spot on. Realizing the lifestyle isn’t for everybody, this is the perfect approach. What got BYU in trouble in the Gary Crowton era may have been the opposite: “We’ll play an exciting offense, so you can buck up and get through the rest of what BYU is to play for us.”
The stories of Bobby Wolford, Jamaal Williams, and Josh Quezada are enlightening.
